COVID19 FAQ

In light of all that is going on, you may be asking how I’m moving forward with my photography (if at all)? I’ve received a number of questions and requests and I thank you all for your patience as we all navigate this together.

The pandemic has changed a lot of our lives and I understand that it is tough. To help address some questions, I’ve written an FAQ below for you that will give you an idea as to how I’m approaching things. Without further ado… here we go!

Are you taking weddings at the moment?
At the moment, I am not taking any weddings for Summer 2020 and possibly also Fall 2020 due to the coronavirus situation still being very prevalent. I am taking bookings for 2021.

I booked a wedding with you but due to COVID19 I have to move the date. What do I do?
Once you get the new date figured out, please let me know so I can re-book you for the date. Generally there will be no penalty to re-book me for the new date presuming I am available.

Will you photograph a larger wedding of 50+ people?
No, I will not photograph a larger wedding of over 50 people due to the Provincial health guidelines in place prohibiting this event. If the event is less than 50 people and can be maintain adequate social distancing (i.e. outdoors in a large open space), I can be open to considering the event.

Are you doing indoor shoots?
Based on the current situation, I am not doing any indoor shooting at all. This is due to the closed environment of recirculating air that may cause for a situation that leads to a higher infection rate of COVID19.
You can see a VOX video talking about this here: COVID19 Indoors vs Outdoors
So in short, I am only doing outdoor shoots at this time.

Are you doing newborn sessions?
If the weather allows for it and we can be outdoors, I can do newborn sessions. I am concerned for the little one as I don’t want him/her to get cold outside (should the temperatures drop) and the indoor space is not a safe space to be in together due to the inability to socially distance and also due to the lack of air circulation.
In short, an outdoor newborn session in warmer weather is available.

If I had a family gathering what’s the max number of people that can be there?
That is partly dependent on the space available and also on the ability to be socially distance from people outside of your bubble. As a photographer, I am usually going to be outside of someone’s social “bubble”. As a general guideline, I would say no more than 10 people in a large space.

Do we have to wear masks?
I would say follow the health guidelines as set out by the Province of BC. If you can be socially distant from someone, a mask may not be required (i.e. outdoors and more than 6 ft apart). The new guidelines do not require you to wear a mask if someone is within your “expanded social bubble”. I will always wear a mask at photoshoots as the photographer.

Will you wash your hands?
Absolutely! I will use hand sanitizer as well when I am getting into and out of my car. I also wipe down my gear and equipment with an alcohol solution before and after the photoshoot.

What if we have to cancel last minute if someone is sick?
We will look to rebook to another day that works for you. It is of utmost importance that everyone stay healthy and stay safe and this means not moving forward with a photoshoot if someone is feeling symptoms. There will be no penalty for moving the photoshoot date to another date.

Can I bro-hug my photographer?
Great question! You can “air high-five" me from a respectable social distance of more than 6ft 🙂

Where can I find more information about the current pandemic situation?
The BC Response To COVID19 webpage is a great place to get info. You can also email me if you have any questions. Although I am not a health expert, I realize that sometimes it’s just important to talk to someone and if I cannot help you, I will try to point you to the people and places that can.

A Street Photograph I took back in 2019. I do pray that this pandemic will end so we can get together again. For now, let’s stay healthy and stay safe for one another.
